3 dead, 10 injured in shooting incident at Mad Butcher grocery store in Arkansas

Gunmen opened fire in the Arkansas grocery store on Friday with the intention of killing three people and injuring a number of others, police said.

A gunman fired at the ar supermarket in Kansas on Friday shooting dead at least three people, and injured a few other people, authorities said.

The tragic incident took place shortly at 11:00 a.m. CT at the Mad Butcher in Fordyce an unassuming town located about 70 miles to the from Little Rock, state police Director Mike Hagar said at a late afternoon news conference.

Eleven people were injured including three who passed away three of them, an Arkansas State Police leader said. Two officers were also wounded but they suffered no life-threatening injuries.

The eight remaining civilians were “extremely critical” condition, Hagar stated.

The shooter, who was treated in custody for non-life-threatening injuries following firing at police the police, was identified on Friday evening as Travis Eugene Posey, 44 from New Edinburg, a community located about 11 miles to the east of Fordyce.

“It’s tragic,” the director of the state police said “Our hearts are broken.”

Hagar and the secretary of public security, said it wasn’t yet time to know what drove the suspect. Arkansas State Police is leading the investigation, he said.

Following his release from medical treatment, Posey was booked Friday evening at the Ouachita County Detention Center Based on allegations of murder in the first degree as per the inmate record.

State police have said that he is likely to be facing three charges of capital murder when charges are filed. Further charges could be brought.

It’s not clear whether he’s retained legal counsel or not, and the public defender’s office in Dallas County, Arkansas, did not respond immediately when asked for information.

The meat cutter Matt Gill was in the back of the shop at the time he heard shots, and shattering glass.

“He came in and started shooting,” Gill stated. “We got out through the rear door. I was forced to leave there since there’s a spouse and children who are at home.”

The shooting seemed to start in a parking lot. siblings Amiya as well as Ashiya Doherty sat in the rear of the family’s vehicle, and they claimed they were almost hit.

“He shot at my mother’s car and hit the tire and pssshshsh,” Amiya stated, imitating that sound of the air exchanging.

The windows of the cars around them were damaged however, the sisters’ vehicle only had a few tire marks. Amiya claimed she held the sister Ashiya and snatched her down to keep her from being struck.

“It was like a movie,” said Ashiya who was not injured.

The incident shocked Roderick Rogers Roderick Rogers, an Fordyce native who is pastor of Grace United Church.

“I saw people just lying in the parking lot,” the man said. “There were shots going on everywhere.”

That was confirmed with NBC News but does not provide the details of what transpired prior to it. The video was a video of a man standing in a parking space firing a long gun. certain rounds seemed to be targeted at vehicles, and the guns were then taken down as he reloaded.

“Look at him,” woman is said on the video which seems to have been recorded from the opposite right side of U.S. Highway 79, the road directly in the front of the shop.

“They done went into the Mad Butcher shooting … ” she declared.

Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders praised authorities for their swift response.

“I am thankful to law enforcement and first responders for their quick and heroic action to save lives,” she stated in the statement.

Fordyce is a city that has 396 residents and the median household income is $35,116. This is less than half of the national median of $74,580 according to U.S. Census Bureau data.

The Arkansas attack comes after the shooting of a mass that occurred in Oakland, California on Wednesday, when 15 people were injured in Juneteenth-related events close to Lake Merritt, officials said.

On Wednesday seven people were injured following an incident in Philadelphia authorities said.
