The Cannes Film Festival security guard, who hogged headlines for clashing with Kelly Rowland, made headlines again after moving Dominican actor Massiel Taveras off the red carpet. The video capturing the clash is now viral and has sparked outrage on social media.
The viral video depicts Taveras wearing an all-white dress, with trains that feature a picture that depicts Jesus Christ. The model and actor tries fixing her train as she ascends the steps. But the security guard stopped her and demanded that she move away.
The video also shows Taveras angry that the security guards aren’t allowed to allow her to pose. When she gets to the top, and turns to wave the security guard is holding her shoulder and attempts to reverse her. If the guard is closer, Taveras can be seen taking away.
A handle called @PopCrave posted the video on X the video racked up more than 23.2 million views. Several social media users criticised the security guard for her conduct. Responding to the video one user wrote “That security guard is clearly misogynistic and anti poc, let’s wake that tea up.” Another user commented “Such a weird behaviour from the security guard.”
“Does this mean the Cannes Film Festival allows and approved of this type of behaviour from security, particularly this same security lady who gave Kelly Rowland the same treatment?” Another user wrote.
In May 23rd, a clip showing Kelly Rowland speaking sternly to the security guard who was on the Marcello Mio debut day was posted through social media. “The woman knows what transpired. I am aware of what transpired. I’m a boundary keeper and I adhere to these boundaries, and that’s it. There were also women on the carpet who didn’t appear like me, and they didn’t have to be scolded or forced off or told to leave. I stood up for myself, and she was adamant that she had to stand up for her however I stood my position,” Rowland told the Associated Press.
