Celtics’ Island Faithful Believe Championship is Near
Noah GlasgowIn the final second of the first quarter Boston Celtics point guard Derrick White carried the basketball down court to the NBA’s all-star Jayson Tatum who smashed it into the hoop before hanging on the edge.
In the midst of a 13-point deficit within a matter of minutes of the game after the game began, the Celtics were playing again, lagging only one point behind, with the entire crowd of the Town MV in Edgartown was bouncing around.
Last night, the Celtics won their third straight victory against their arch-rivals the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals and Islanders and visitors alike were in bars and eateries to watch the players in green move the closer they get to achieving their record-breaking 18. NBA championship.

“I don’t know how they could lose,” Everett Hazelton while watching his team’s game in the Wharf pub in Edgartown said to the Gazette. “They’ve simply got to continue the same way they’re going. There’s nothing to be worried about. It’s ridiculous. They’re unbelievable.”
At the Town server Camilla Tamargo was wearing the Celtics jersey to the evening’s celebrations. A Town game, she noted was generally lively.
“We get a good bunch of people… it’s our year-round crowd with a few more peppered in,” she added. Stephan Sha and Dylan Maulucci are both employed in the Edgartown Golf Club, were enjoying the game at the Town along with their colleagues. It’s a regular Wednesday night event according to them.
The Mr. Sha, a lifelong Lakers fan from Beijing stated that for as long as he was living in New England he had the Celtics back. The Mr. Maulucci, of Buffalo, New York, said that he’d been an avid Celtics fan since childhood. He also said the Celtics will play in game three just so long as team captain Jayson Tatum is able to perform.
On at the Wharf, Bill Camarda said that he had been in the Island for a couple of days and was coming out Wednesday night in order to take part on the game.
He was. Camarda said he was a Celtics supporter as that the Celtics team did not “get in their own head and play down to the competition.”

In the first game that was played, the Celtics were falling behind the Mavericks however, when they emerged to win the coach. Camarda said his faith was restored.
“The Celtics of old would’ve caved… That made me think: we can do this,” Mr. Camarda said.
The Celtics would defeat the Mavericks 4-1, as the coach predicted.
Game three was not an any exception to Celtics”touch-and-go” playstyle. Through the entire game the Celtics were able to switch between big lead and a dangerous underperformance. After they entered into the final quarter having a hefty lead, they played seven and a half minutes and scored just two points and let the Mavericks overcome a 20-point deficit to just only a single free-throw.
However, Mr. Camarda’s confidence was put in place as the Celtics finished the game 106-99.
Islander Ben Williams was confident that the Celtics would win the series as an easy sweep.
“We’re too deep and too hungry of a team to let it go,” Mr. Williams said.
According to the late Mr. Hazelton: “2024–it’s calling.”
