Paramount is released the trailer for its debut film ” Smile 2,” the sequel to the breakout 2022 horror smash. The sequel is due out on Oct. 18th, a popular singer (Naomi Scott) is possessed by a curse of evil which takes its victims in the form of a terrifying smile.
Parker Finn, writer and director of the debut “Smile,” returns with actor Kyle Gallner, who played the police officer Joel. The series of films follows the unstoppable evil of a demon who drives its victims to commit suicide by appearing as a series human beings sporting sinister smiles that are plastered on their faces.
The first episode ended by Joel witnessing the gruesome death of his former girlfriend Rose Cotter (Sosie Bacon) after she ignites herself on fire in the wake of the mysterious demon that is grinning. Anyone who witness someone else’s death due to the demon becomes the next victim who is killed, meaning Joel might soon suffer the same fate.
Others cast members comprise Lukas Gage, Rosemarie deWitt, Dylan Gelula, Raul Castillo, and Miles Gutierrez-Riley.
Though originally scheduled for a premiere that was streaming only initially Paramount+, the studio behind the film offered “Smile” a full theatrical release, which resulted in $217 million worldwide at the box office. The popularity of the first film certainly was enough to convince Paramount to join for another. If the new installment is able to be able to achieve similar outcomes, it could be the start of the next series in a long-running series of horror classics.
Following the debut of the movie, Finn was asked about a possible sequel. “I do think that there is still a lot of interesting stuff to explore in the world of ‘Smile.’ There certainly are stones that I left unturned by design.”
“Smile 2” is set to release on October. 18. Check out the trailer below.
