forecast for round 2 at 7:45 a.m. Morning of Friday Most sunny, to partially cloudy Friday morning. more clouds expected during the afternoon when an incoming cold front moves in out of the North. The possibility of thunderstorms and showers will start to appear around midday and continue to increase until around p.m.. Afternoon thunderstorms can bring massive downpours, and possibly some strong winds. Thunderstorms and rain should quickly decrease in intensity following sunset. The temperature is expected to rise to a peak in the 90s to low 90s, as the heat index is at its highest between the middle and upper 90s.

The second-round tee times for Friday’s round of the Travelers Championship have been moved by one hour because of weather conditions, PGA TOUR Communications announced Thursday. The forecast for heavy rain is to fall on Connecticut on Friday afternoon and the weekend may be a bit wet.

The first tee time for the day will be 7:05 a.m. ET in the TPC River Highlands; players will continue to play in twosomes from the No. 1 Tee as originally planned. Will Zalatoris, who opened at 6 under 64 will be playing with Ben Griffin in the leadoff pair.

The forecast for Friday’s morning is for thunderstorms and isolated showers with an estimated 25% chance of rain. The forecast is darkening for afternoon, however, as the cold front is scheduled to move in from the north shortly after noon, with a 70 percent probability of rain. Expected rain amounts to 0.5 up to one inch though some regions could see as much as 2 inches of rain according to the TOUR forecast for the weather.

“Severe cells are expected to produce prolific rainfall rates,” said the forecast.

The forecast is improving for the weekend, but could pose a problem. Saturday has 30 percent chance of thunderstorms and showers in the morning. This proportion that will increase to 50% by afternoon. The same 30 to 50 percent range is expected for Sunday.

The silver lining: Travelers restricted group of just 70 participants gives more flexibility for the same-day round to be completed following delays.
