Derrick White Named to 2024 USA Basketball Men’s National Team
Derrick White (Boston Celtics) has been chosen to be part of the 2024 USA Basketball Men’s National Team to participate at the Olympic Games Paris 2024, scheduled for July 26 – Aug. 11, 2024.
USA Basketball announced today that Derrick White (Boston Celtics) was chosen to the 2024 USA Basketball Men’s National Team which will compete at the Olympic Games Paris 2024, scheduled to take place between July 26 and August. 11-2024. White was picked by USA Basketball’s Men’s National Team’s director of operations Grant Hill.
As was previously announced, Kawhi Leonard who was picked for 2024’s USA National Team for the Men’s National in April, isn’t likely to be a participant during the Olympic Games. USA Basketball as well as the L.A. Clippers decided that it is in his best interest to spend the remainder of the summer focusing on the next NBA campaign.
“I am happy to announce that Derrick will compete at his first Olympic Games on the heels of a championship season in Boston,” Hill declared. “We are excited to have him on our team in the coming few days as we prepare to prepare for Paris.
“I am thankful and grateful to Kawhi for his devotion to his nation’s USA Male National Team. Kawhi was able to play at America. United States, but USA Basketball and Clippers management thought it was crucial to allow Kawhi the opportunity to prepare to participate in the NBA game. “
Alongside White as well as White 2024’s male USA National Team features Bam Adebayo (Miami Heat), Devin Booker (Phoenix Suns), Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors), Anthony Davis (Los Angeles Lakers), Kevin Durant (Phoenix Suns), Anthony Edwards (Minnesota Timberwolves), Joel Embiid (Philadelphia 76ers), Tyrese Haliburton (Indiana Pacers), Jrue Holiday (Boston Celtics) LeBron James (Los Angeles Lakers) and Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics).
White has been a 7-year NBA veteran, who is now White in the USA Men’s National Team after having led the Celtics to a historical 18. in the NBA Championship during the month of June. In 2023-23 the 30-year-old was able to score 15.2 each game. He also had 5.2 assists as well as 4.2 Rebounds. He was also included on the NBA All-Defensive Second Team for the second time in succession.
White was selected to be his 2024 USA National Team’s men’s team in the month of January. White was one of the finalist candidates for his 2020 place for the USA Men’s National Team and was a participant in this year’s USA World Cup Team.
Leonard is member of the USA Basketball family since 2012 was part of the USA Select Teams in 2012 and 2014. He also played in the team USA White in the 2015 USA Basketball Showcase.
the 2024 Senior Men’s National Team has 11 Olympic participations, and holds 10 Olympic gold medals and three FIBA World Cup titles. All in all it is expected that the U.S. will take 11 NBA All-Stars and four NBA MVPs along with seven NBA champions to Paris.

The USA Basketball Showcase is an event series that is designed for the USA both men and women’s national teams to compete on the international stage.
