In terms of the number of medals won in the medal count, the United States is the preferred choice to be the winner of many gold medals. China is unlikely to catch up with that of the U.S. in the overall medal count, but it has an opportunity to win greater gold awards than Americans.

Which nation is the most medal-winning in the initial day of the competition? Here is a an overview of the Olympic medals (and continue reading for Team USA highlights from Day 1.).

FIRST U.S. MEDAL

USA-AUSTRALIA CONTINUES RIVALS IN POOL

Americans Jack Alexy, Hunter Armstrong, Caeleb Dressel and Chris Guiliano combined to win the men’s freestyle relay of 4x100m for the USA’s first gold at the Paris Olympics.

The Americans completed the event with the timing of 3:09.28 to claim their third consecutive Olympic victory for the race.

Australia was second place with a time 3:10.35 and Italy took bronze with an estimated timing that was 3:10.70.

Australia reversed the script for the women’s 4x100m freestyle relay winning the gold medal ahead of those from the U.S. and setting an Olympic record time of 3:28.92 during it.

Team USA took silver with the American world record of 3:30.20 The other team was China. China was the winner with bronze.

Four swimmers who have earned Medals with Team USA include Simone Manuel, Kate Douglass, Gretchen Walsh and Torri Huske.

KATIE LEDECKY, GRETCHEN WALSH SHINE

In the individual finals, the renowned U.S. swimmer Katie Ledecky took home her 11 the Olympic gold medal this Saturday securing bronze in the freestyle 400m in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The time was that was 4:00.86 to finish just behind the Australian Ariarne Titmus, who won in 3:57.49 to claim her second bronze medal for the race.

Then CT’s Gretchen Walsh broke the Olympic record in the semifinals for women’s 100m butterfly with an impressive record time in 55.38 seconds. Walsh challenged her own record of 55.18.

The fellow American Torri Huske ran the second-best time in the semifinals, 56.0.

The final 100m butterfly will be held on Sunday, at 2:140 p.m. ET.
