Simone Biles becomes most decorated U.S. Olympic gymnast, she leads Team USA to women’s team gold
Simone Biles led Team USA to its fourth Olympic gold medal for women’s teams in 2024’s Paris Olympics.

Finally it’s official! U.S. women’s gymnastics team is back on the Olympic medals after taking the silver medal home from the Tokyo 2020 Games (171.296). Italy has won their first Olympic team medal in 96 years by winning it winning the gold medal (165.494). Brazil took home the bronze medal – its first Olympic medal for a team in the history of sports (164.497).
Simone Biles now has eight Olympic medals with five gold medals beating the famous Shannon Miller to become the most decorated U.S. Olympic gymnast in the history of the sport.
Biles as well as Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey and Hezly Rivera have now landed themselves in the books of history as the only four members of the American team to earn the Olympic gold medal at this competition.
Biles claimed that upon landing her vault – the moment in which she received the ‘ twisties which made her withdraw from the team final, as well as several events in Tokyo Biles felt the relief.
“I thought, phew,at at least there weren’t any flashbacks or any other flashbacks,” Biles said. “I felt a great sense of relief after I hit vault, I thought”Oh yes, we’re definitely going to try the same thing again.'”
Carey who is reigning Olympic champion in the floor event decided not to participate in on the team final following an unsettling fall during the qualifying round. She later admitted following the event she was feeling unwell.
“This is the most important thing to me. I’m happy to be part of this team and be able to contribute to the team today,” Carey said. “This week isn’t going exactly how I wanted it to but I’m happy for the opportunity to play tonight and get my job done. I did exactly what the team required of me.”
Rivera is the youngest participant of the U.S. delegation across all disciplines, was not picked in any of the teams -and the U.S. instead opted to depend on its veteran athletes. Biles and Chiles took part in the four events, and the reigning Olympic overall champion Lee took with uneven bar, balance beams, and floor exercises.
“It’s just been a wonderful adventure,” Rivera said. “Even training with them is amazing because I’ve seen how everyone is working intensely in the gym, both physically and mentally. I was thrilled to be in the gym watching them play tonight, and despite going through a lot but we put it all together for the final day that matters. I’m extremely proud of the team and I was so happy to be there for the team tonight.”
Great Britain showed a remarkable turnaround following a seventh-place finish in qualifying to make it to the final. While the team took bronze in Tokyo but many of the nation’s top athletes suffered injuries prior to the Games and posed a threat to the team’s chances of winning medals. The team came in fourth place.
