The speculation of a unexpected performance from Beyonce during the Democratic National Convention reached a alarming level on Thursday, following TMZ said she was scheduled to perform. However, the superstar was not able to appear onstage at the event, and vice president Kamala Harris closed out Thursday evening.

Rumors of Beyonce have been circulating for a while however, they exploded on Thursday when TMZ said she’d be in attendance on the final morning of the Chicago convention with unknown sources.
Following the TMZ report Unnamed Beyonce representative informed The Hollywood Reporter “the report of a performance is untrue” and that she did not plan to be at the event in addition, The Washington Post reported an insider who met with organizers of the convention that there was no specific guest, including Beyonce, scheduled for Thursday.
Beyonce, who previously had not supported Harris like she had done Joe Biden in 2020, Hillary Clinton in 2016 and Barack Obama in 2012 — gave the campaign Harris-Walz sole rights in the usage of her hit song “Freedom,” which has been Harris the song she used to walk out at rallies for the campaign.
A possibility of a Beyonce performance was the subject of intense speculation throughout the week. White House director of politics Emily Ruiz fueled the rumors earlier in the day, by tweeting just a single bee emoji that was a devious mention of”BeyHive,” or the “BeyHive,” as Beyonce’s fan base is known. She later tweeting “sorry people, my 6-year old daughter took my phone. “
On Tuesday, Democratic Party Chair Jaime Harrison did not confirm or confirm the claims of CBS Mornings that the superstar was scheduled to perform but instead said “Everyday she’s on the studio singing Freedom. ‘”

What To Watch For
More sane rumors than the Beyonce ones–about a possible Taylor Swift performance–have also been going around throughout Chicago in the last week. Swift, who supported Biden’s 2020 campaign, and has also endorsed Democratic candidates in recent times but has not yet made an endorsement for this year’s presidential race.
