Trey Lance got the start for the Dallas Cowboys ‘ preseason game on Saturday and it’s safe say that it wasn’t a smooth game.

The No. 3 pick in the 2021 draft was able to throw for 323 yards and 67.3 percent passing. However, He also had five interceptions during an loss of 26-19 against Los Angeles Chargers. Los Angeles Chargers.

He was also their top rusher, scoring 90 yards in just 11 carries. One of which resulted in a touchdown on an 87-yard run.

His first choice came during the 2nd quarter, at midfield. In the first third quarter drive, Lance marched his team to the red zone but he threw his second choice of the game, which he threw for an unanswered touchdown.

After Dallas scored in the next two drives, each of Lance’s last three drives ended with an interception. This included an interception that resulted in a pick-six. The three picks occurred during the last 4:44 period of play, and the last one occurring on the final game.

The Cowboys were on the Chargers at the 20-yard line looking to tie the score however, Lance’s pass to at the goal line was snatched in Robert Kennedy of the Chargers’ Robert Kennedy.

It’s been a difficult life for Lance, who was selected for the San Francisco 49ers after they swapped from No. 12 to No. 3 in the draft to get who they believed was the son of Jimmy Garoppolo.

After assuming the starting position from 2022 onwards, Lance had a knee injury that ended his season in week 2 and the return from Brock Purdy pushed Lance to the bench.

San Fran traded Lance to Dallas just one year ago in exchange for a fourth-round selection.

As of now, Lance figures to be the third-string quarterback, behind Dak Prescott as well as Cooper Rush. The Cowboys did not accept Lance’s fifth-year option in the offseason, which means Lance is now an unrestricted free agent following this season.
