What’s closed or open on Labor Day 2024?
Labor Day is on Tuesday, September 2. This is an overview of what’s open and what’s closed.

Labor Day is on the 2nd of September, Monday. The holiday is the official closing of summer 2024.
While students get ready to enter schools for the very first time lots of Americans are enjoying one last weekend to enjoy an outdoor barbecue or to go on holiday to the beach.
First Monday of September marks this day of celebration for the American workers’ demonstrations and the work the workers have made in their role in contributing to US business.
This doesn’t mean that Americans aren’t running errands to run, whether that’s making a visit to the bank or picking up a important item that’s been left at the shop.
What’s available and closed this Labor Day 2024.
Retail stores
Anyone who has to visit a shop will have a great time. A majority of stores are part of Kroger (which is comprised of Kroger, Ralphs, Dillons, Smith’s, King Soopers, Fry’s, QFC, City Market, Owen’s, Jay C, Pay Less, Baker’s, Gerbes, Harris Teeter, Pick ‘n Save, Metro Market, Mariano’s, Fred Meyer and Food 4 Less — will be open during normal times.
Major retailers such as Walmart (WMT) and Target will continue to function as normal.
A majority CVS (CVS) pharmacies are operating, although some local pharmacies may be limited. Walgreens stores remain open for normal hours on Labor Day, but the majority of pharmacies will be closed except for pharmacies that are open 24 hours a day and a handful of pharmacies.
Additionally the wholesaler for retail Costco (COST) will be closing.
Post office
Do not plan to send mail through the United States Postal Service on Monday, as the service will be closed. The majority of UPS services will be off except for Express Critical, and limited areas will be operational. The only exception is that FedEx Custom Critical, its exclusive service for deliveries that are specific to customers will continue to operate along with its FedEx Office service will operate with altered hours.
Banks
Labor Day is one of 11 federal bank holidays. Banks will be shut. However ATMs are open, as well as ATM and online banking services will be available.
The US stock market will remain in dark. NASDAQ along with the New York Stock Exchange won’t be trading.
Government
The federal offices and government institutions will be closed Monday. Think about your local DMV as well as local libraries. The courts of the state as well as local courts will also be closed.
