Speeding cars turned into violent fights during Sunday’s NASCAR All-Star Race in North Carolina in which drivers Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Kyle Busch got into a fight that eventually involved their teams.

The tempers reportedly flared when Busch crashed into Stenhouse‘s number. 47 Chevrolet Camaro, leading the car to smash into a wall around the perimeter as per NASCAR. The crash threw Stenhouse off the track after only 2 laps (out of 200) at the North Wilkesboro Speedway.

Stenhouse later was parked in Busch’s pitbox then climbed over the wall, and then up towards the crew, apparently make a connection. Because North Wikesboro has no exit tunnel, he was forced to wait until the race would close to take on Busch.

In the aftermath of the competition, fireworks were set off and both drivers were caught having a conversation in the garage, when Stenhouse was seen throwing the right hook in Busch’s face.

The video released from NASCAR of the incident revealed Stenhouse looking agitated while speaking to Busch.

Busch declared: “We all hit each other,” to which Stenhouse responded, “You hit the fence and then you hit me.” Busch replied, “I don’t believe you.”

“Go back and watch it,” Stenhouse told the crowd before he began swinging.

Then, a second later, others in the vicinity of the two stars leapt into the fray to help and break the two stars apart, landing them in the dirt.

Crew members took part in the fight too and threw punches at one another. In the video posted by X from NASCAR, Busch is seen striking a man who has separated the two from Stenhouse.

In an following post-fight interview on FOX Sports, Stenhouse said: “You know I feel like Kyle and I have always raced each other really hard … Then, I wrecked him once at Daytona, and he’s kind of been bad mouthing me ever since then.”

“I believe we have a good relationship well outside of the track. I chat with him quite often. I’m not sure what made him was so angry when I pushed it three-wide. He did, however, hit the fence and sort of hit the wall, and ran over me. I’m not sure, but when I was talking with him he was constantly saying I destroyed the guy,” he explained. “Definitely built up frustration with how he runs his mouth all the time about myself.”

“But I know he’s frustrated because he doesn’t run near as good as he used to and I understand that,” Stenhouse said.

He also said that getting stuck on the circuit “definitely doesn’t help the frustration.”

“If there were tunnel, I’d probably had my own home to watch the end of the tunnel. But here we are.” Stenhouse said.

There weren’t any serious injuries in the race and, if there are penalties, they’ll have to be assessed by Wednesday according to regular procedures and timelines as per NASCAR.

Busch finished 10th in the race, driving his No. 8. Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, and Stenhouse was last.

Joey Logano in his No. 22 Ford Mustang Dark Horse ended in winning the race and the $1 million prize.

NBC News has reached out to both drivers as well as NASCAR to get their input.
