After the day’s events finished after his four-set win over Tommy Paul in the Wimbledon quarterfinals, the defending Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz turned his attention to the most important game of the day Spanish’s semi-final game in the semi-finals with France in Euro 2024.

In his press conference shortly before the beginning of the match Alcaraz was first asked to find out if the match was on his mind during his 5-7,6-4 6-1 win over his fellow American.

“Honestly, at the beginning of the match I wasn’t thinking about it,” Alcaraz said. “Once I’m sure that I’m in charge of the game five-one at the end of set 4, I was thinking about it (smiling). I was thinking perhaps I was in the right place at the right the right place at the right time. But it wasn’t.

“After I was done the course, I was in a hurry, just so I could see a little of Spain.

The 21-year old is two matches away from completing the illustrious Roland Garrosdouble. Wimbledon double at the same time the same year. He battled back from a set loss to beat Paul who is ranked at No. thirteen in the PIF ATP Rankings. Alcaraz has dropped four sets so through this fortnight. He needed four sets to defeat the 16th-seeded Frenchman Ugo Humbert in the fourth round. He also had to take five sets to defeat American Frances Tiafoe in the third round.

In his final Roland Garros finals title race, the 14-time tour level champion only lost one set in order to get into the semifinals. In the previous year’s Wimbledon the Spaniard dropped just two sets in the same stage. The stress of a win this week has proven to increase the strength of Alcaraz more robust.

“Well we’re trying to come up with solutions. It’s going to be a challenge to perform at the highest level every single time,” Alcaraz added. “I know that there will be matches that won’t be when I’ll be able to play at my highest tennis even if I’m expected to win it.

“I consider that, given the actions the three major players did during their playing careers, they’re expected to have their best tennis. However they will be able to play their top tennis skills to be successful in these games. This is my thought.

“When I’m not at my top tennis, I’ll look for ways to improve just to get better, to be able to defeat the opposition.

Alcaraz will be next in line for a rematch of last year’s semi-finals last year’s match against Daniil Medvedev, who beat all the world’s top seeded players and world No. 1. Jannik Sinner in five sets last Wednesday. Three-time major champion defeated only nine sets Medvedev during the match, however the current Nitto ATP Finals champion continues to improve his confidence when playing on grass.

Alcaraz is expecting a hard match.

“The most difficult part about playing Daniil or perhaps the best thing about him is that he is able to touch every ball. In a way, he’s the wall. The ball is bounced back every time” Alcaraz declared.

“I believe that I can hit a shot which is incredible and the ball will bound to rebound back. It’s hard to consider this.

The day of Tuesday’s was great morning to Alcaraz and the squad, as Spain winning against France by 2 to advance to the last.
