Free guard agent Klay Thompson has signed an agreement for a three-year, $50 million deal for the Dallas Mavericks , end of his 13-year stint as a player with four time champion Golden State Warriors Sources told ESPN the following day.

Thompson’s move was primarily motivated by the opportunity to compete for an additional championship with his team which is that of the Western Conference champion Mavericks.

The deal, done with his agents Greg Lawrence of Wasserman, was a multiteam signing and trade deal that will transfer Mavericks guard and forward Josh Green to the Charlotte Hornets and two draft picks from the second round to the Warriors.

Dallas will send its own 2031 second round selection to the team, in addition to being the least popular of the 76ers or Nuggets 2025 second-round picks according to an insider.

The trio of Curry, Thompson and Draymond Green scored 518 wins during the regular season and playoffs, the sixth most wins won by three athletes in history. Their 98 wins in the playoffs are the third-highest of any team in NBA history. Their four championships are in an alliance with Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker for the most of an All-NBA squad in the past 50 seasons according to ESPN Stats & Information research.

The Warriors have sent a message to wish Thompson the best of luck an announcement released on Monday. The statement stated that they are considering taking off his jersey that will be his jersey number. 11 jersey.

“The degree of happiness and joy Klay gave to Warriors team members, Bay Area natives and Dub Nation supporters all around the globe is immense and cannot be overstated,” the statement read. “His ability to perform under immense pressure at the top levels, like his many Game 6 heroics, has played a major role in determining the direction for his professional career.
