Free guard agent Klay Thompson has signed an agreement for a three-year, $50 million deal for the Dallas Mavericks , end of his 13-year stint as a player with four time champion Golden State Warriors Sources told ESPN the following day.

Thompson’s move was primarily motivated by the opportunity to compete for an additional championship with his team which is that of the Western Conference champion Mavericks.

The deal, done with his agents Greg Lawrence of Wasserman, was a multiteam signing and trade deal that will transfer Mavericks guard and forward Josh Green to the Charlotte Hornets and two draft picks from the second round to the Warriors.

Dallas will send its own 2031 second round selection to the team, in addition to being the least popular of the 76ers or Nuggets 2025 second-round picks according to an insider.

“Klay’s heritage will endure for eternity and we’re looking forward to the day that we are in a position to retire his jersey number 11 at Chase Center where he will be one of the Warriors immortals as well as others who played an important role in the creation of the current generation of dynasties, which includes his own.

“We thank Klay for his contribution to the community, and we wish him the best in the coming chapter of his life is written.
