Alex de Minaur withdraws from Wimbledon 2024 due to an injury to his hip
Australian tennis player Alex de Minaur withdrew from the Wimbledon 2024 tennis event due to a sprain on his left hip. He was scheduled to play Novak Djokovic in the quarter-finals.

HTML0Alex de Minaur has been forced to withdraw from Wimbledon 2024 due to an injury to his hip. This Australian tennis star was set to face Novak Djokovic in the men’s singles quarterfinals at Wimbledon 2024, the Grand Slam tournament on Wednesday.
currently ranked 9th in the tennis world rankings, Alex de Minaur injured his hip during his match in round of 16 during his round 16 in the round of 16 match against Arthur Fils of France.
“I’m devastated but I had to pull out due to a hip injury,” de Minaur said in a press conference. “I experienced an ear-splitting crack in the final three minutes during my match against Fils and a scans on Tuesday confirmed this was the source of my injury. “
“It’s obvious that at this point in my career this was my biggest game of my life. I was determined to do everything I could to be a part of it. The issue I face when getting out and playing is that a single stretch one slide, one any thing could cause the injury to change between three and six weeks to a period of four months.” The Aussie said.
The match between the seven-time champion Novak Djokovic was set to be the first quarter-final game in six years at the Wimbledon Championships.
The departure of De Minaur means that Djokovic made it to the 13th singles males’ Wimbledon semi-final, which is the record of Roger Federer from the Open Era. The Serb will take on Taylor Fritz or Lorenzo Musetti in the semi-finals on Friday.
Alex de Minaur, who has also been playing in the last eight matches of the French Open in June and was the winner of the ATP grass-court title at’s-Hertogenbosch at the middle of June. The player is also a part of the Australian tennis team which will play in the Paris 2024 Olympics and is currently in an effort to prepare for the tournament that will take place in France.
The number of 14 Australian tennis players that were included in both men’s and women’s singles matches at Wimbledon 2024. The only notable exception is Alex de Minaur, however did make it into the third round.
James Duckworth, Rinky Hijikata Chris O’Connell, Max Purcell and Alex Bolt were ousted in the men’s first round singles.
Jordan Thompson, Aleksandar Vukic, Thanasi Kokkinakis and Adam Walton were eliminated in the second match, while Alexei’s match was over in the pre-quarterfinals.
