Shiloh Jolie-Pitt is the daughter of 18 year old Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie is seeking to change her name.

Two sources who are familiar with the situation, the divorcing couple’s daughter filed for legal papers on her birthday earlier this week in order to remove “Pitt” from her last name.

The sources claim that she would like to change her name to Shiloh Jolie. NBC News has not reviewed the petition.

An insider familiar with the issue said that she had hired herself a lawyer and paid the fees.

Representatives of Pitt and Jolie have not responded to inquiries for comments.

This isn’t the only one of the children of the couple to give up their Pitt surname. Zahara Marley Jolie did so, at least publicly, in 2022.

This announcement is part of the couple’s ongoing divorce dispute. Their marriage, which have six children, broke up in 2016 when Jolie claimed that Pitt that she choked one their children during a violent trans-Atlantic flight back in 2016. Jolie declared divorce after the incident that she claimed to have caused. NBC News obtained the FBI report on that incident back in 2022 after an Freedom of Information/Privacy Act lawsuit initiated by “Jane Doe.”

After the incidents, Pitt was investigated by the Los Angeles County Department of Child and Family Services. NBC News has previously reported that Pitt was exonerated of any wrongdoing, and there were no criminal charges filed against the actor.

In the year 2016 and beyond, the ex-lovers are locked in a legal dispute regarding their winery, Chateau Miraval in southern France. Pitt has filed a suit against Jolie and accused her of selling her half part of the vineyard to Russian Oligarch Yuri Shefler. Miraval was the venue of their wedding in 2014.

The couple’s divorce is ongoing, in 2019 they received an “bifurcated judgment,” meaning they’re legally single.
