Aurora borealis Northern California leaves many speechless
The vibrant display of colors that astrologers observed in the evening sky created through a flare from the sun. And at first in years you could observe the phenomenon on the horizon in Northern California, stirring up an uproar.
An uncommon sight of beauty in Northern California – an aurora borealis.
“It was just an amazing site to see,” said Anahi Ballesteros, who resides in Stockton.
The color of pinkish-purple was reflected across the sky, leaving viewers in awe.
“It’s been a lifelong dream to see the northern lights and I never thought in a million years it would happen in my backyard,” said Marina Aria, from Davis.
Based on the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) the event was triggered by a string of solar flares caused geomagnetic storms directed towards Earth.
These kinds of storms occasionally affect infrastructure, such as the power grid or satellite operations. They can also interfere with the radio signal and even navigation.
FEMA confirmed that no damage had been recorded.
In addition, these storms created aurora borealis-like displays across different regions of the Earth which can be seen at Northern California – spanning across the nation into areas in Tennessee as well as Alabama.
“Everything came to life, the stars were there,” Ballesteros said.
Ballesteros was a fifth-grade school teacher from Stockton was a fifth-grade teacher in Stockton. She traveled with her family along an eight-mile highway to take photos.
“Kind of like a photo frame from Alaska but you buy it here, but it’s like wow we’re just seeing it in Stockton,” Ballesteros stated.
Then, in Davis, Aria and her husband drove off from the town to get a look of the couple.
“I was so emotional. My eyes started welling up,” Aria stated.
Local police departments are taking note of the activity, and posting the news on Facebook.
A place that is usually only visible in the northern regions of the planet, it offers Californians an opportunity to see the world in a unique way.
“This totally changed my pallet for nature,” Aria stated.
Northern lights can be visible as far south as Modesto and even if the storm is less severe it is possible to catch it on Saturday night.
