CBI investigates a case of allegations of irregularities in connection with NEET-UG 2024 Sources
The decision to turn over the investigation to CBI was made following reports of fraud, impersonation, and other misdeeds in NEET-UG 2024.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Sunday registered a case in connection with allegations of irregularities in NEET-UG 2024, as per sources. The development follows hours after the Centre handed over the investigation into the matter to CBI.
The CBI will take over FIRs that have been registered in various states related to irregularities within NEET. People who are arrested by state police will also be placed in CBI custody.
The CBI will find what is believed to be the “larger conspiracy” in the subject, according to sources.
The decision to turn over the investigation to the CBI was made following reports of fraud, impersonation and other blunders in the process of examining.
In an official statement, the Ministry of Education stated, “Certain cases of alleged irregularities/cheating/impersonation/malpractices have been reported with regard to the NEET examination. In order to ensure that the examination process is transparent of the examination The Ministry of Education, after an examination, has opted to delegate the issue to the CBI to conduct a thorough investigation.”
The NEET-UG exam was held on 5 May across more than 4,750 centers in the country. Around 24 lakh people took it. The results were released in June 4 which was ten days ahead of the scheduled date.
A few days later the incident, there were reports of a NEET-UG leaks of paper within BIhar. Patna Police detained seven people which included four candidates in connection with the incident. The suspects in their written confession stated they were given the exam paper on the day before the examination.
A political dispute soon broke out in the Opposition insisting an amendment to the Medical Entrance test NEET be conducted again.
The Union Minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan, however, stated his government will not put at risk the future of a lot of hopefuls due to some “isolated incidents”.
