Freshly blonde, but an established and well-known character among the ivy and petunias of south-west London Four months after leaving her teenage years behind, Coco Gauff seems to be a traditional lawn tennis player.
There’s a feeling that this could prove to be a crucial Fortnight for the 20 year old from the All England Club, a belief that could stem from Roger Federer’s parents Robbie and Lynette and Federer’s twins Leo and Lenny who were in the No.1 Court crowd during the American’s 6-1 victory over Romanian qualified player Anca Todoni in the second-round of the tournament.

In the summer of 2011, Gauff lost to a competitor in the qualifying round, which put Gauff into “a profound depression”. But Gauff has been learning about her own life over the last twelve months. This has meant recognizing the fact that there’s no need to be awed or overwhelmed by expectations and pressure.

There are a variety of other reasons that Gauff could be in good shape for this season. In addition she’s at the top in her career, which is number. 2.
It’s been twenty years since a teenager first took the title of women’s singles at tennis on the Wimbledon grass. It is Maria Sharapova who was only 17 when she defeated Serena Williams in the 2004 final. Wimbledon isn’t going to be able to boast a teenage champion this year, either. But it might have a lawn tennis champion who’s just 20 and third.
