Conservative US journalist and loud Donald Trump supporter Lou Dobbs passed away at the age of 78, as per the statement published on Thursday via the account of his X Twitter account, by the team he works with.
“It’s with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of ‘The Great Lou Dobbs’,” the statement read. “Lou was a fighter till the very end – fighting for what mattered to him the most, God, his family and the country.”
Dobbs, who previously worked at CNN and Fox was hosting his own podcast known as The Great America Show, as well as hosting his own show on the local station of radio 77WABC.
The couple is survived by their wife Debi as well as his grandchildren and his children.
Trump acknowledged Dobbs in a tweet to his Truth Social account as a “friend, and truly incredible Journalist, Reporter, and Talent”.
He was a world-viewer “better than others”, was “unique in so many ways” and he had loved his country, the US, Trump said, saying condolences.
in 2021 Fox removed the telecast show hosted by Dobbs following allegations of making use of the platform for spreading false allegations of fraud during the 2020 elections and was also named in a lawsuit claiming defamation brought by a manufacturer of voting machines in a lawsuit against Fox.
An official statement by Fox News said the company was “deeply saddened” by his death.
“An incredible business mind with a gift for broadcasting, Lou helped pioneer cable news into a successful and influential industry,” it reads.
“We are immensely grateful for his many contributions and send our heartfelt condolences to his family.”
