In a creative twist on political rivalry, a Democratic politician has taken aim at Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene by transforming her criticisms into a diss track.
The video, which was posted on X (formerly Twitter) by Congressman Jared Moskowitz, depicts how Democratic Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett responded to Greene’s criticisms of her at a hearing of the House Oversight Committee on Thursday.
“Just to better understand your ruling, if someone on this committee then starts talking about somebody’s bleach blonde bad built butch body,” Crockett is seen asking the question prior to the clip repeating”bleach blonde “bleach blonde bad built butch body” phrase that is accompanied by the beat.
Moskowitz has dubbed the track’s diss title “Oversight after dark.”
Newsweek is reached out to the representatives from Crockett and Moskowitz by email to ask for comments.
Crockett replied: “J&J (Jared & Jazz) dropping diss tracks like we Kendrick Lamar… MTG Truly wanted the smoke tonight.”
Crockett’s comments were made following an House Oversight Committee hearing on the possibility of moving forward with an action to impose contempt on attorney general Merrick Garland turned in chaos Thursday after Rep. Greene made a casual comment about the physical appearance of Crockett.
Greene was the first to cause controversy when she spoke about her daughter Juan Merchan, the New York State Supreme Court who was the judge in former President Donald Trump‘s hush money trial. Loren Merchan is an Democratic advisor to the political party.
Crockett then demanded Greene clarify “what that has to do with Merrick Garland,” and then asked Greene, the Republican, “Do you know why we’re here? “”I don’t think you know what you’re here for,” Greene replied. “I think your fake eyelashes are messing up what you’re reading,” she added.
The rage grew, and Chairman of the committee Representative James Comer repeatedly slamming his gavel and yelling for order as well as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez asking the committee to discipline Greene for her comments.
“That is absolutely unacceptable, how dare you attack the physical appearance of another person,” Ocasio-Cortez told reporters.
“Are your feelings hurt?” Greene said.
“Oh! Girl, baby, girl!” Ocasio-Cortez seethed. “Don’t even play!”
“Oh, really? Baby girl? I don’t think so,” Greene stated.
The hearing was temporarily suspended for a couple of minutes until Greene accepted to “strike” her words but she refused to apologize.
They then continued their exchanges.
“Come on guys,” Comer demanded.
“Why don’t you debate me?” Greene stated.
“I think it’s self-evident,” Ocasio-Cortez told reporters.
“Yeah, you don’t have enough intelligence,” Greene replied.
The tension seemed to calm down, until Crockett got on the mic and shot back at Greene and asked a question to Comer regarding what constitutes an attack that is personal.
“I’m just curious. To better understand your ruling, if someone on this committee then starts talking about somebody’s bleached blonde, bad-built, butch body, that would not be engaging in personalities, correct?” Crockett asked.
“A what now?” Comer asked. “I have no idea what you just said.”
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna then asked Crockett to “calm down,” to which Crockett replied: “No! Do not tell me to calm down, because you’re all talking loudly and you’re unable to bear it!
“Because if I come and talk s*** about her, y’all gonna have a problem!”
Following this hearing GOP Rep. Lauren Boebert decided to her to “apologize to the American people” for the incident.
“I just want to apologize to the American people,” Boebert stated. “When things get as heated as they have, unfortunately, it’s an embarrassment on our body as a whole.”
