Viewers took a first glimpse of Timothee Chalamet’s transform as Bob Dylan for the upcoming biopic The Complete Unknownwhich will be released in theaters this month in December. Does Chalamet sing in the film? And does the actor have a authentic voice that is featured in the trailer teaser?
A film from Searchlight Pictures, A Complete Unknown is written and directed by James Mangold (Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny) who wrote the screenplay along with Jay Cocks based on the 2015 novel “Dylan Goes Electric!” by Elijah Wald.
Film is set at New York in the early 1960s. It takes place in the early 1960s and follows “19-year-old Minnesota musician Bob Dylan’s meteoric rise as a folk singer to concert halls and the top of the charts — his songs and mystique becoming a worldwide sensation — culminating in his groundbreaking electric rock and roll performance at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965,” according to the official description.
The dazzling cast includes Monica Barbaro as Dylan’s collaborator and former love Joan Baez, Elle Fanning as Sylvie Russo – another artist who was a lover of Dylan in the early 1960s and Edward Norton as Pete Seeger, Boyd Holbrook as Johnny Cash as Johnny Cash, along with Scoot McNairy playing Woody Guthrie.
In the first teaser that was released on July 24 The Wonka actor sings a portion in Bob Dylan’s “A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall” from the album he released in 1963 The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan. Is that the voice of the actor aged 28?

Yes, that’s Timothee’s voice heard in A Complete unknown’s teaser. He’ll lend his vocals to the highly anticipated Bob Dylan biopic, which will premiere in theatres on December.
When was asked by Collider the month of April in 2023 if Chalamet sang for the film, instead of having Dylan’s voice recorded the director James Mangold answered, “Of course!” Chalamet also received guitar and singing lessons to be able to perform the role, IndieWire reported.

This isn’t the only time Chalamet has shown off his talents as a singer in a movie. He sang in the 2023 film musical Wonka , that featured seven musical songs. He also contributed to the motion-picture soundtrack, including songs such as “You Never Had Chocolate Like This,” “A World of Your Own,” “Sorry, Noodle,” and “Pure Imagination.”
He was an actor who was a student at the Manhattan’s Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, also sang in the 2019 film “A Rainy day” show at New York. A video was released showing the highly-rated singer singing “Sweet Charity” in a production at LaGuardia. With his prior work and his background in music fans are likely to be seeing more musical performances from Chalamet going forward.
