With an average annual wage of $53.1 million annually, Tagovailoa is ranked third in the NFL in terms of quarterback wages, beating the Jax’s Trevor Lawrence and Cincinnati’s Joe Burrow. The contract comes with a guaranteed $167 million that is the eighth-highest among quarterbacks, according to a source who spoke on conditions of anonymity because they were not allowed to divulge the specifics.

ESPN first announced the extension at the beginning and attributed the term to the group that is the official representative of Tagovailoa Athletes first.

The Dolphins did not make an announcement about the extension, however they did share the video via Tagovailoa on Facebook on Friday afternoon.

Tagovailoa remained in the terms of the contract he made when Dolphins picked the fifth overall selection in the 2020 draft. Tagovailoa wanted an agreement like the ones executed by Burrow and Justin Herbert, who were selected in that same season.
