Miami Dolphins have signed quarterback Tua Tagovailoa for a four-year extension that is worth the NFL world record $212.4 millions.

Miami Dolphins have agreed with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa to sign an extension of his contract for four years that is worth a record franchise $212.4 million. This is according to the source with knowledge of the contract told the media on Friday.

With an average annual wage of $53.1 million annually, Tagovailoa is ranked third in the NFL in terms of quarterback wages, beating the Jax’s Trevor Lawrence and Cincinnati’s Joe Burrow. The contract comes with a guaranteed $167 million that is the eighth-highest among quarterbacks, according to a source who spoke on conditions of anonymity because they were not allowed to divulge the specifics.

ESPN first announced the extension at the beginning and attributed the term to the group that is the official representative of Tagovailoa Athletes first.

The Dolphins did not make an announcement about the extension, however they did share the video via Tagovailoa on Facebook on Friday afternoon.

Tagovailoa remained in the terms of the contract he made when Dolphins picked the fifth overall selection in the 2020 draft. Tagovailoa wanted an agreement like the ones executed by Burrow and Justin Herbert, who were selected in that same season. After signing their rookie contracts, Burrow and Herbert signed multiyear contracts which exceeded $200 million.

Through negotiations, Tagovailoa took part as an offseason participant in training sessions for the team. He also was a participant in a part of the first days in training camp. He was fully enrolled on the Friday.

Tagovailoa who sustained numerous concussions throughout his first three NFL seasons, is positioning himself for a massive pay increase with a no-injury and active 2023. He scored 29 touchdowns and had the league’s most productive score of 4,624 yards.

The Dolphins were playing in the playoffs, but had to be eliminated from the initial round of play by Kansas City, the eventual Super Bowl champion Kansas City and stayed out of the playoffs without winning during these playoffs.

This extension will guarantee that Tagovailoa will be in Miami until 2028.
