The lawyer for his client, Lewis Fusco, confirmed his death to CBS News affiliate WTSP-TV in Tampa.
At 4.40 a.m., Tampa police officers were called to a shooting that was reported by the Holiday Inn Tampa North, which two vehicles had been shot, which resulted in four people being struck by gunshots, Tampa Police spokesperson Jonee Lewis announced at a press conference.
A victim is believed to be Charles Jones, 26 However, police stated the identity of the victim is still being confirmed through an medical examiner. As per WTSP, Jones is Foolio’s legal name.
Three others were wounded during the shooting.
Fusco reported to WTSP that Foolio had been in Tampa for his birthday celebration at an Airbnb. He was told to leave due to the fact that there were too many guests at the home. He later was taken to the Holiday Inn, where he was believed to have been ambushed, Fusco told WTSP.
Foolio is a popular Instagram user who has more than 1 million users on Instagram posted as well as promoted his Instagram page that the man was in Tampa to celebrate his birthday.
Hotel guests weren’t evacuated, but the police were at the scene to help in the event of a need, Lewis said.
Police are urging citizens to submit any videos or information to help with the investigation.
“If you saw something or heard something any little detail can help us figure out what happened this morning,” Lewis explained.
