chef Gordon Ramsay has described feeling shaken following an “really bad” cycling accident in the US.
In the video uploaded to Facebook in which he lifted his chef’s whites up to show a significant purple bruise on his torso. For which he was hospitalized.
The message was addressed for “all the dads out there” in advance of Father’s Day on Sunday, the main character in Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares and Hell’s Kitchen highlighted the importance of wearing a helmet.
“I don’t care how short the journey is,” said the cyclist, noting that guidance is more crucial when cycling with children because “they’ve got to wear a helmet”.
“I want to wish you all a happy Father’s Day, but please, please, please wear a helmet. If I didn’t, honestly, I wouldn’t be here now.”
On his Instagram He also posted photos of before and after that showed the extent of damages to the helmet.
The chef stated that the incident occurred earlier in the month in Connecticut.
The 57-year old thanked the Memorial Hospital’s state’s Lawrence as well as the trauma nurses and surgeons who took care of the patient.
He stated that the man did not “break any bones or suffer any major injuries” however, he did appear “a bit bruised up looking like a purple potato”.
“I’m in pain. It’s been a brutal week. And I’m sort of getting through it,” Ramsay said.
