Johnny Wactor, ‘General Hospital actor, shot fatally in L.A.

Actor Johnny Wactor, known for his work on the daytime drama “General Hospital,” was fatally shot when he interrupted a crime in Los Angeles, according to his family and police.

The mother of the deceased, Scarlett Wactor, confirmed his death at the time of the incident. He was 37.

Her son was described in the form of “a light in a dark room.”

“There is a huge hole in all of us, and there is no fixing that,” she declared.

Manager of Wactor, Marco Cuadros, lamented the “senseless tragedy.”

“Johnny Wactor was such a kind soul, a talented actor and an inspiration to those around him,” Cuadros stated in an announcement.

“His professionalism, his enthusiasm and love for his craft was infectious and made him such a joy to work with. He pursued his dreams and achieved them, all the while remaining a good human being caring for others.”

The agent of Wactor, David Shaul, said in an interview with Variety that Wactor was a hard-working professional and exemplary.

“In the highs and lows of a challenging profession he always kept his chin up and kept striving for the best he could be,” Shaul stated. “After over a decade together, he will leave a hole in our hearts forever.”

Los Angeles police, who didn’t confirm whether the dead person was actually deceased provided an account of the event.

Around 3.25 a.m. Sunday morning, the victim spotted three people who were removing catalytic converters from a car near Pico Boulevard and Hope Street located in the southwest part of the city center Los Angeles, the police department told.

The third reacted with the fire, hitting one of the victims, and he was declared dead, according to police.

Scarlett Wactor said by phone from South Carolina that her son was bartending at a local rooftop bar and was assisting by an “deep clean” after last call, and then walked to his vehicle down the street along with three of his coworkers.

Two coworkers broke off in the opposite direction to go to their cars and left her son behind with one other coworker behind, she explained. They spotted his vehicle, which was damaged and he believed it was towed due to the fact that his car was parked on the street in a secluded area, knowing that he would be working later than normal and was not expecting to be there earlier, she explained.

He got up in front of a co-worker and asked a person sitting on the ground beside his car if it was towed. at which point the individual was shot, she stated.

The two other persons the police described were inside an unoccupied vehicle she added.

Wactor is an Charleston, South Carolina, native, has wanted to be an actor since the time he entered the elementary school years, Scarlett Wactor said. After he graduated from Rollings Middle School of the Arts in South Carolina and moved to Hollywood and stayed in contact with his theater instructor, she added.

He continued to develop his craft by enrolled in or observing acting classes whenever it was possible. And he loved climbing when time permitted, she noted.

The business was not a pleasurable ride. At one time, Scarlett Wactor said, “I thought he was almost going to starve to death out there.”

He first appeared on television with Lifetime’s “West Wives” and eventually appeared in 164 episodes on “General Hospital,” on which he played Brando, the child of Bonnie Borroughs’ Gladys Corbin, Brando, according to the Internet Movie Database.

He was also a guest on the television show “Westworld” and as a voice actor in”Call Of Duty,” the game on video “Call of Duty: Vanguard,” according to IMDb.

Scarlett Wactor said his acting work could aid her in coping with the loss of her son.

“I think that when I see Johnny on the videos and the recordings, I can only hope that he’s doing that in heaven and enjoying it,” she added.

There have been no arrests made.

The crime took place just a few minutes walk away from Crypto Arena, where the Lakers play home games.

Catalytic converter thieves are targeting the polluting components for their industrial and precious metalsplatinum, palladium, and rhodium, the prices of which soared prior to and during the outbreak of coronavirus.

The amount of thefts in the United States increased to a peak in 2022 According to National Insurance Crime Bureau. A series of bills in the states from California up to Rhode Island has tried to make it more difficult to purchase and sell catalytic converters that have been stolen and the metals inside.
