A former Pakistan wicketkeeper and batter Kamran Akmal Kamran Akmal offered an unreserved apology Harbhajan Singh over Harbhajan Singh’s “inappropriate and disrespectful” comments regarding India speedster Arshdeeep Singh’s religion in the India against Pakistan T20 World Cup 2024 match. Akmal declared that”I am “truly sorry” for his remarks regarding Sikhs and drew the furious reaction of Harbhajan’s followers on Twitter.

“I truly regret the recent statements and am sincerely sorry in a heartfelt apology to Harbhajan Singh along with members of the Sikh community. My remarks were insensitive and unprofessional. I have the highest respect for Sikhs across the globe and have never planned to harm anyone. I am deeply sorry. “#Respect #Apologize” Akmal wrote on X and tagged his former India cricketer.

In a clip shared in a video posted by Harbhajan who was a former Pakistan cricketer who was on an panel of ARY News (A Pakistani news channel) and made an unpopular comment about the religion of Arshdeep. “Kuch bhi ho sakta hai… Dekhe last over karna Arshdeep Singh ne hai. Waise uska rhythm nahi laga. Twelve baj ghye hai (Anything could happen. The final round will bowl by Arshdeep Singh, who hasn’t been in a good pace. And it’s almost twelve),” Akmal said as he laughed with the other panelists in the broadcast.

The remarks were made during the 19th round of Pakistan’s chase in the Sunday’s India match against Pakistan T20 World Cup game in the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.

His comments did not go over nicely with Harbhajan. Former India off-spinner blasted Akmal. “Lakh di laanat tere Kamraan Akhmal.. You should know the history of sikhs before you open your filthy mouth. We Sikhs saved your mothers and sisters when they were abducted by invaders, the time invariably was 12 o’clock . Shame on you…Have some Gratitude,” Akmal wrote.

In the course of defending 17 in the final round, Arshdeep did a spending job, surrendering only 11 runs in order to secure an unbeatable six-run win for India. He also took the wicket of Imad Wasim in the opening out of the over, to get figures of 1/31 over his four innings.

India bowlers defend their low total against Pakistan

Prior to that, India did not get off to a good start starting point after being thrown into the play at the hands of Pakistan captain Babar Azam. Opening players Virat Kohli (4) and Rohit Sharma (13) did not make a big impact on a slow New York that offered plenty of seam movement at the beginning.

Rishabh Pant (42 in 31 balls, and six fours) lost his arm and swung his body over the green, which set his Indian game in motion. Pant had a productive partnership along with Axar Patel (20 in 18 balls, containing two fours and six) and Suryakumar Yadav (7 off 8 balls)). But the middle order collapsed as well and India lost for just 119 in 19 overs.

Haris Rauf (3/21) and Naseem Shah (3/21) were the top bowlers in Pakistan. Mohammed Amir got two scalps and Shaheen Shah Afridi took one.

In the run-chase Pakistan adopted a more measured approach. Mohammad Rizwan (31 in 44 balls, including a six and a four) kept one end in. But, Bumrah (3/14) and Hardik Pandya (2/24) scored crucial wickets for the skipper Babar Azam (13), Fakhar Zaman (13), Shadab Khan (4) and Iftikhar Ahmed (5) to make sure that we don’t let Pakistan to slip away.
