More than 85 thousand people attended the Mexico-Brazil soccer game at Kyle Field

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – Tens of thousands of visitors are in town this weekend for the MexTour soccer match.

KBTX was present at KBTX was at the Futbol Fiesta event in Aggie Park on Saturday. Many fans were partying.

Fans were sporting their team’s colors and many were drinking drinks and carrying fans to keep cool in the scorching heat.

Neil Peltier with the University Center & Special Events is anticipating up to 25,000 guests at the party’s tailgate.

Additionally, there were Brazilian and Mexican performers and dancers at the tailgate to entertain the crowd.

“We’re well-prepared, we’ve collaborated together with our university partners, Environmental Health and Safety, Emergency Services We’re well-prepared to welcome an enormous crowd on this day,” said Peltier.

MLS MexTour Media Officer, Gabriel Gabor, says Kyle Field is expected to be packed with an estimated 80,000 fans.

“We’re anticipating today to be between 80,000 and just a bit north of the figure. A majority of people who bought tickets are from out of town, so there are lots of people coming from across Texas since we’re very central. We know that they’re from every corner of the nation and even those who came from Mexico as well as the fans who originate via Brazil,” said Gabor.

Because Mexico faces Brazil this conflict has attracted more people.

“It’s significant for the city that I can see that the restaurants are packed as I drive by, and hotels are crowded and that’s great to hear about our local economy,”” added Gabor.

Fans were thrilled to experience the game in person.

“It’s great because it’s a great experience for anyone who wants to see the game, it’s an experience for everybody So we’re thrilled to be here and enjoy the game,” said Mexico soccer fan Christian Lopez.

Valeria Lopez is a fervent soccer fan, and travelled across Houston for the buzzing atmosphere at Kyle Field.

“I consider it to be amazing because I believe soccer is way more than this school or anything else. The World Cup is in the near future and I think it’s amazing,” said Lopez.

As per an A&M Official A&M Official, there were a total of 75,000 tickets sold to the game.
