The gymnast seemed to injure her lower leg when warming her up for the floor workout. After covering her lower leg and ankle with athletic tape that was heavy, she was back in competition and did well.

The day she began her training for the 2024 Olympic Games, the gymnast Simone Biles appeared to injure her leg while warming up for a routine. The injury that caused some concern, but didn’t stop her from competing and finishing first.
After the match Biles’s coach Cecile Landi, played down what the impact of her injury was. “She felt something in her calf area,” Landi said.
Despite her injury Biles scored high marks and a competitive-best 15.8 for the vault. Alongside strong performances by her teammates, she was able to earn her a place on her to be on the U.S. women’s gymnastics team in the all-around team final on Tuesday. it is expected that the U.S. is a favorite to be the gold medalist. The all-around individual final will be held on Thursday.
There’s no concern “at this time” regarding Biles’s capability to participate in these competitions, Landi said.

Biles seemed to injure her leg in a warm-up for the floor workout the second apparatus of the evening. After she landed a pass Biles moved off with a sluggish pace from the mat and consulted with her coaches before disappearing briefly off the floor. Afterward Biles returned to the mat with her lower calf and ankle covered with a thick athletic tape.
Despite the injury Biles was able to finish her remaining routines and scored an impressive 15.8 in the vault. “Never in her head” was there any question of whether she’d continue, Landi said.
The expectations are high for Biles along with the other members of the U.S. women’s gymnastics team are high at the Olympic Games in Paris.
Biles 27 has performed at the highest levels of her career ever since returning to competition in the last two years following a absence. She is considered to be the most likely to secure at least three gold medals. She is also expected to win the team’s all-around gold to the U.S.
A niggle could put these goals back. “First first and foremost I want to ensure that she’s physically healthy and then we’re going to work further,” said women’s team technical leader Chellsie Memmel. “What she did while looking like she was suffering from a pain or discomfort within her lower leg is amazing.”
Biles had a brief problem with her calves in the month of March, Landi revealed. “After the issue, it went away. It was a little more this morning,” Landi said. “Just an occasional discomfort in her calves.”

The U.S. women’s team finished their qualification round with the top position on the team ranking. The gymnasts Jordan Chiles and Sunisa Lee who is the reigning gold medalist in the individual all-around competition, both finished 3.5 points lower than Biles.
“Their objective, which is evident, is to go home with a gold-medal,” Memmel said.
In three rounds on Sunday, Biles performed last. In the end, while her competitors sat down they were able to catch the attention of an audience of around 15,000 people who included celebrities Snoop Dogg and Tom Cruise and Anna Wintour who had travelled mostly to watch her.
