Travis Scott was detained under his real name, Jacques Bermon Webster

Travis Scott has been arrested in Miami for drunkenness and trespassing in the course of an dispute on an island.

The American rapper was arrested by the police on the Miami Beach Marina at around 01:45 local time on Thursday morning, according to official records.

A report of arrests from the Miami Beach Police Department seen by BBC Newsbeat says officers were summoned to reports of people fighting on a boat.

The 33-year-old was arrested by his actual name, Jacques Bermon Webster, according to Miami-Dade County Corrections Department’s site.

Police were called in to investigate complaints of disturbance at an yacht. Police were able to see Travis Scott shouting at people on the boat.

Officers claim they had a conversation with the rapper and were able to “sense a strong smell of alcohol” on his breath.

According to the report, they instructed him to get off the dock and he did however, the incident occurred when he “walked backwards, yelling obscenities to the occupants of the vessel”.

Scott was later seen leaving the area and was spotted by officers just five minutes later, returning and trying to get back on the vessel, as per the report.

If questioned, when he was questioned, he “disregarded officers’ commands” and grew “erratic”, shouting and disturbing residents of the area according to police.

After his detention, the police report says the defendant later admitted there was alcohol in his system in the following statement: “It’s Miami.”

“Mr Scott was briefly detained due to a misunderstanding,” his lawyer Bradford Cohen said in a statement released on Thursday.

“There was absolutely no physical altercation involved, and we thank the authorities for working with us towards a swift and amicable resolution.”

Travis Scott is a 10-time Grammy Award nominee and one of the most popular hip-hop artists around the globe.

He was in a previous partnership with Kylie Jenner. Kylie Jenner and Kylie have two kids together.

The singer’s European tour is scheduled to kick off with a show in the Netherlands on the 28th of June with a concert scheduled for London as well as in Co-op Live in Manchester. Co-op Live concert venue in Manchester on the 13th of July.

The year 2021 saw 10 people were killed in a rout in Scott’s Astroworld festival in Houston, Texas.

He has not been charged with criminal charges for the deaths of his children however he is still involved in civil proceedings in which organisers are accused of being in the wrong.

In the year 2000, he scored the first UK top album with Utopia that came out a week following the planned concert in front of the pyramids of Egypt was put on hold.
