Xbox Live Goes Down in Nearly Seven-Hour Outage

Xbox Live, Microsoft’s multiplayer gaming and digital media platform, was affected by technical issues Users reported numerous problems in access.

UPDATE, 7/2, 9:01 p.m. ET Microsoft stated that they have resolved any technical issues that shut down Xbox Live for more than seven hours. “Users are no longer experiencing issues logging into Xbox Live and services,” the Xbox Support account on the Xbox Live website published around 8:49 p.m. ET. “Thank the players for their patience, and game ahead!”

Xbox Live, Microsoft’s digital media and multiplayer gaming network went down for quite a while on Tuesday, as hundreds people complained of problems accessing the service.

Customers’ complaints regarding problems related to Xbox Live started to increase approximately 2:15 p.m. ET on Tuesday, as per the tracking of site Downdetector. It was 2:25 p.m. more than 23,000 complaints about outages were filed to the website with more than three-quarters saying users had issues logging in. A handful of Xbox Live users reported seeing an error message saying that the service was experiencing “scheduled maintenance. 

Other Microsoft-operated software such as Minecraft and Microsoft Store Microsoft Store, also had the highest amount of reports with errors for Downdetector.

The official Xbox Support account on X posted on Tuesday, February 25, at 2:15 p.m. ET “We know that a few users are experiencing disconnects from Xbox Live. We are looking into this!” The message sent gamers to the Xbox status page which eventually was updated to inform users that there was an problem in the “Account and Account” service. It was announced at 2.07 p.m. (ET). “You may not be able to sign into an Xbox accounts, you may be disconnected even if you’re being logged in or experience other issues that are related with this,” it said on its Xbox status page reads. “Features needing logins, like numerous games, apps and social media activities, will not be available. 

Microsoft requires that players have the Xbox Live Account (which costs nothing to set up) in order to enjoy online-based games as well as access other games via the Xbox consoles, Windows PC and the Xbox console. Windows PC and Xbox mobile applications.
